YESTERDAY'S FAIR

Once again a most grateful THANK YOU to all my stallholders who made such a super Hand-Crafted Home Fair yesterday at Stanwick Lakes, with their beautiful products displayed in such attractive and professional ways.

There seemed to be a good atmosphere, Stanwick Lakes was quite busy, and hopefully, we all had a good day.

JUMPING LAMB

My new website - Jumping Lamb - is beginning to take shape - and I just had to show you this mug - I found it in a charity shop the very day after buying my name for my website - Jumping Lamb - it must have been fate!!

My ideas for the site are progressing and changing and I am really excited at the thought of being able to showcase my hand knit designs to a wider audience.

I will actually be writing an 'in house' blog on the site once I go live, and so do keep an eye open for that.  It will be called 'Inspiration' and will show where my inspiration comes from, what goes on in my village life and hopefully it will inspire my readers too.

EXCITING TIMES

I seem to have been a little quiet lately, but actually only on my blog as really quite a lot is happening.

The first thing was that when we came back from our break in Yorkshire, I was just leaving the house by the back door when I found a lady knocking at the front - Emma - and she asked me if I would be interested in running some Knitting Workshops for her.  You can see her website here Walnut Tree Workshops and after a super afternoon of tea drinking and planning, I am booked to do 4 in the Autumn.

This is a new venture for Emma and so I wish her all the luck in the world.

As you can see from the pic, I am still producing retro tea cosies and these will shortly be available to buy from Foreva Designs (click to link) where you can find all kinds of exciting and unusual personalised items, and much, much more.  This site is run by Eleanor and Matt who are both extremely talented and highly qualified designers - do have a look and find something a little different.

The last thing is that my new website, Jumping Lamb is in production - very early days, but do keep an eye open for its progress.  There I plan to sell Hand-Knits made by me, Knitting Kits and some Vintage and Interesting Haberdashery.

Very exciting, and just a little daunting!

YORKSHIRE AND FAIRS

After a few days away in North Yorkshire where - as you can see from the pics - the weather was mixed!  I have come home refreshed and ready to go again - much helped also by yesterday spent at Sketchley Grange Spa with my super sister-in-law - her birthday present to me!

The View from our Caravan

Just fantastic - no phone signal, not much radio signal and we don't do TV in the caravan and so a complete break.  Reading, walking, browsing, knitting for me of course, and a super pub just outside the entrance to the site.

What more could you want?

HOWEVER,  I am taking bookings now for my Hand-Crafted Home Fairs to be held at Stanwick Lakes from August to December and so if you are interested in taking a stall please contact me via the comments box  or via facebook or email.

LAST SATURDAY

I had absolutely super crafters with me at my Hand-Crafted Home Fair on Saturday showing their wares in such inspired ways.

Just think how hard it is to create a stunning show with only a table and some props from home along with the wonderful items which we all spend hours creating with real love and care.

When people arrive who are genuinely interested in what we do, it is such a pleasure - one little girl came up to me and told me that her great aunt is teaching her to knit - she looked at all my items and asked about individual items - "How did you make this?   How many stitches did you put on at the start of this?  How old were you when you learnt to knit - I'm 8?

She was an absolute delight, and went very happily home with a goody freeby bag from Lesley with all she needed to begin creating her own fabulous greetings cards.

Sally Jerome - Check out these adorable bootees - knitting, crochet and felted items, and I was very jealous of her fantastic vintage clothes airers used for display!

Rachel Nicholson - These beautiful candles have a central core and are then dipped and carved many times to create these stunning designs, and Rachel has only about 5 minutes to carve them before the wax hardens!

Becky Lewis is just starting out with her jewellery design business.  She is working on fairly mainstream items at the moment, but her love is Goth - so you see, hand-crafts don't have to be itsy-bitsy!

Lisa Strathdee under the name Dusty Moon creates unusual wooden plaques, framed prints, super rings made from hand painted buttons and delectable boxes for all your treasures.

Jennifer Merrills creates a super mix of beautiful jewellery, and specialises in polymer clay which is created like a stick of rock - such tiny work and just wonderful.

Janice Farrow creates stunning flower arrangements from both fresh and silk flowers, and including these delightful hair bands - and just look at the price - where can you find something like that on the High Street?

Belynda Faulkner's Sterling Silver jewellery has to be seen close up to appreciate the detail - I love her little bird earrings.

Jamie Dixon (Jewellery by Design) won't mind me saying that he is quite a big lad, but just look at the delicate pieces he produces - and these are the best quality gem stones - no plastic here!

Lesley Barnes - who has attended all of my Fairs at Stanwick Lakes since I began there last July - a fantastic array of incredible hand made greetings cards - which she spends hours making on her narrowboat home and half the price of those in the shops!

Lesley also raised just under £30 for Help the Heroes in the sale of some of her cards.

And me - I just knit (a lot) and produce throws, cushions, bunting, knitted necklaces, tea cosies - retro and contemporary etc.  The Louis bunting was made for my grandson who was 5 on Saturday, but another little boy came up to me and told me he really loved it - his name was Louis and his favourite colour was red - I felt a real heel not being able to let him have it - but all names and all sorts of colours can be made to order for £2 per letter!

At the next Fair will be on Saturday 10 August so come along and see us and

HAND-CRAFTED HOME FAIR - SATURDAY 11 MAY

Just a reminder that the next Hand-Crafted Home Fair to be held at 
Stanwick Lakes is next Saturday 11th May from 10.30 a.m. to 4.30 a.m.

I have been busy with Bunting - some new seashore blue triangles trimmed with super large vintage navy beads.  Nicely complimentary to the pink Bunting I made earlier,  (please excuse the state of the roof - lots of moss from the cottage roof and hopefully new roof and repainting this summer - we hope!)

and Bunting for Louis who will be 5 on Saturday!

I plan to do more of this - grandchildren first !
